2. Individual Observation Field Report (30%) (1500 words excluding references)
Conduct 30-60 minutes of participant observation on the HKU campus (e.g., at Starbucks, during a class, at MTR exits, etc.). During your observation, take detailed field notes. Based on these notes, write a comprehensive field report. Your submission should include the following components.
a. Reflection on Challenges and Successes: Discuss the practical and ethical challenges you encountered during your observation, as well as any successes. Reflect on how you might refine your approach and practice in future observations.
b. Data Analysis and Emerging Themes: Combine your interview data and field notes and conduct a thematic analysis of both datasets. Suggest two possible emerging themes that address the research question: What does it mean to be a HKUer as a master's student?. Discuss these themes and their relevance and draw upon your data to illustrate.
c. Appendix - Field Notes: Include 500 words of your field notes as an appendix.
