DRM254 3D SKETCH MODEL PROJECT
GOAL:
- Create a 3D Sketch model with Sketchup for the play you chose
SketchUp is available for FREE on web browser.

Required materials:
- A few screenshots of different angles of your set model (top, front, side, different angles)
TIPS
- The set must be located in some kind of theatre space. Consider downloading a theatre model on SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse as a starting point, OR you can create a simple box set using the square tool.
- Make full use of SketchUp’s 3D warehouse — there are thousands of open-source user-created patterns and objects that are free to use. Just searching what you’re imagining can come up with really cool results.
- Consider any functionality needs of the set based on the script, answering questions like: are there entrances and exits that need to be considered? Are there any props that need to be stored in the set somehow? How do the actors interact with the set?
Have fun! Remember, this is a SKETCH model — this is supposed to be a preliminary idea of a set; I am NOT looking for a finished set design with proper documentation, dimensions and etc. This is a digital tool to come up with weird ideas that bring something new to a text. Please approach it from that standpoint; I am not looking for polish here. Try to make something that’s physically impossible if you want to. As always, reach out to me via email for assistance with the program if needed.
