Individual Project Assignment Brief

The assignment is based on your research and analysis of a current innovation issue from a client organization. Also, it asks you to propose a strategy to address the specified issue using the strategizing tools introduced in this course. The organizational context in which the issue is situated should be based on one of the following organizations:

. Hynds

. Icebreaker

. Another technology and tech-enabled company based in either Australia or New Zealand (subject to instructors’ approval)

Apply strategy tools, including such as the 3-horizon model and innovation lenses (i.e., desirability, viability, and feasibility), to conduct your analysis and create a firm or product strategy and a related innovation strategy.

Beyond the illumination and examination of the innovation issue, you are tasked to propose your recommendation on the strategy. You should also evaluate the strategy by consider its feasibility, desirability viability, and the potential risk involved in executing the strategy.

Task instructions:

Examine one innovation issue facing your client organization and draw on theoretical and practical content covered in the course to develop a cogent and plausible strategy to address it.

As you address the task, you will need to make several scoping decisions to set the boundary conditions for your analysis.

Which organization and organizational context are you interested in examining

Ensure clear communication of the context you want to work with. Use WHO, WHERE, and WHEN to set out the boundary conditions.  Ensure you clearly communicate the underpinning rationale behind your choice.

Which innovation issue do you focus on

Clearly articulate the innovation issue the client organization is facing, why it matters, and to whom. Ensure you clearly communicate the underpinning rationale behind your choice.

· What strategy do you propose to address the innovation issue?

· Which theoretical concepts or lens do you want to apply to help develop your recommendation on the strategy?

In addition, your analysis should address the following questions:

· How will the innovation create value for your chosen organization?

· How does using your proposed strategy impact the firm's business model?
