Graphical Integration/ Differentiation

The purpose of this exercise is to further develop your intuition regarding the relationship between stocks and flows.  This type of intuition is valuable because it is often the case the pattern of behavior of a stock over time does not correspond to an analytical function, and therefore the tools of calculus cannot be directly applied.  Complete the Challenges in Figure 7-4 (on graphical integration, page 239; note that we did the first exercise in class, so only do the second one) and Figure 7-6 (on graphical differentiation, page 241).  Note what Sterman says of this:

“Do not use a computer.  The point is to develop your intuition about stocks and flows and your ability to relate the two.  Using simulation defeats that purpose and will take longer.”
