CEN 322 Project Report Assessment

Project Brief: This is group work based on the output of your Coursework of modelling. Please carry out a sustainability appraisal for the school building. Act as a designer, you should evaluate the design focusing on the environmental impact, energy consumption, natural lighting, as well as green building requirement, etc.

1.   Please  identify any issues that have impacts on the environment and/or the lifecycle sustainability of the building.

2.   Please analyse the energy performance of the existing building using Autodesk Insight plugin and identify potential improvement. Try to explore different functions in Insight and understand each analysis outcome.

3.   Based on the  energy analysis outcome, make reasonable improvement to reduce the original energy benchmark analysis result by  10-20% using the widgets in Insight and explain your choice.

4.   In addition, please explore how the designer can gain various benefits from using BIM and present your findings.

A group report is required to describe and evaluate the model with all details of the sustainability appraisal. Maximum 3000 words for the report, including figures and tables, and proper references. An oral presentation is also required to demonstrate the main content of this project.
