Course Description
This course introduces students to financial world and provide basic guidelines for applying economic theory to financial decisions that are made nearly every day. It is an applications based course which will further enhance students’ ability to put theory into practice. A variety of topics related to the financial and economic operations of domestic and world markets will be discussed.
Prerequisite: Econometrics with C or better.

Structure
Classroom activity will consist of lectures, class discussions and in-class exercises, case studies, exercises. Lectures will refer to, but not review, all material in the textbook. You will be expected to come to class having read all assigned readings (chapters, cases, articles) and ready to share and discuss. Discussions will focus on the application of concepts rather than mere reviewing.
The class will meet daily at the assigned time and location. Students will be assigned a group. These groups are formed to complete various course requirements & exercises. Groups will not be modified once they are assigned.
Attendance is expected for all lectures and in class activities. Random attendance will be taken.
Exams
There will be one in-class midterm exam and one final exam. All of the exams will test your understanding of the readings, lectures, discussions, and other class activities. All written answers must be in black or blue pen. All final numerical answers must also be in black or blue pen, while your numerical reasoning may be done in pencil. No make-up exams will be given except in case of medical or family emergency (Appropriate documentation will be required).
Quizzes
You will be given 5 closed-book quizzes throughout the semester. Each quiz will consist of 25 multiple choices relating to the material covered in the lectures since the most recent quiz, exam or homework assignment. Each quiz is worth 5 points, however, your lowest quiz score will be dropped. There are no make-up quizzes. All written answers must be in black or blue pen.

Policies
Attending Policy
Regular and prompt attendance is required. Under ordinary circumstances, you may miss two times without penalty. Each absence over this number will lower your course grade by a third of a letter and missing more than five classes may lead to a failing grade in the course. Arriving late and/or leaving before the end of the class period are equivalent to absences.
Policy on “Late Withdrawals”
In accordance with university policy, appeals for late withdrawal will be approved ONLY in case of medical emergency and similar crises.
Academic Honesty
The Zhejiang University of Technology expects all students to do their own work. Instructors will fail assignments that show evidence of plagiarism or other forms of cheating, and will also report the student's name to the University administration. A student reported to the University for cheating is placed on disciplinary probation; a student reported twice is suspended or expelled.
