1.  Discuss the nature and limits of economic globalisation

and explain the transformations in the geographies of the global economy.

2.  Describe the nature of geographical embeddedness of

multinational enterprises and evaluate the spatial extent of global production networks.

3. Assess the role of institutions and states at different

geographical scales in shaping international trade and investment activities.

4.  Discuss the impact of technological changes, innovation, and geographic dispersion on the international business environment.

5. Assess the effects of power asymmetry in economic relations and evaluate the distribution of gains and losses in the global economy across different geographical scales.

Aim

The aim of the exam is to test the application of your

learning of IBE concepts, either at a general level or in a

particular setting, by demonstrating the use of higher-level skills of analysis.

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria are divided as follows:

1)  Demonstrate effective understanding of the module content and IBE concepts.

2)  Demonstrate effective application of the IBE content to the questions at hand.

Grade:

Requirements:

Pass (C or 50 credits

1) A sound knowledge of the main concepts and a basic understanding of theory and

Merit (B or

60 credits

+)

1) A good knowledge of the underlying

theories and evidence, and awareness of

the main academic arguments and debates surrounding these concepts.

2) The ability to apply these concepts to more complex elements of the question.

Distinction

(A or 70 credits +)

1) Sound knowledge of the academic

literature underlying these arguments and debates and the ability to argue a position within these.

2) The ability to relate complex elements of the question to a broader academic and

policy context.

Self-regulation

. Carefully read the questions and look for key words.

. Think, plan, and outline your answers before writing

them. The better organised your answer, the easier it is for you to demonstrate your understanding and for the marker to evaluate.

. Be clear and succinct. Underline and bold, use headings and sub-headings where needed.

. If a question explicitly asks for examples, failing to do so will be marked down.

. Examples may always be used if they are appropriate and relevant for the question at hand.

. Critically analyse or discussoften requires contrasting conflicting views/perspectives.
