A Case Study on Computational Intelligence
A. The Task
You will be encouraged to finish a curriculum report that would contribute up to 70% marks for the module Computational Intelligence. Please read the follows for working out:
Step 1, Pick up a problem or a challenge that you are interested at, then collect the data set and information for addressing it.
Step 2, Pick up one of the five parts list as follows, or their combinations as the approach for selected problem. Then model it and solve it.
(1) Artificial neural networks (ANNs),
(2) Evolutionary computing (EC),
(3) Swarm intelligence (SI),
(4) Artificial immune systems (AIS)
(5) Fuzzy systems (FS).
Step 3, Evaluate your results. There are many ways for doing that, e.g. sensitivity analysis (input- output), error calculation, comparison with other algorithm, parameter analysis, etc.
Step 4, Draft your report. The following outline is an example, but you can write as you like.
(1) What is the problem/challenge is? Do we have available data set for addressing it, and what the date set looks like. Is there any existed method for this problem, and why you choose your method?
(2) Introduction of your approach, including but not limited to the models, algorithms, data processing and evaluation metrics, etc.
(3) Your conclusions on computational intelligence approaches based on the problems that you’ve solved.
(4) High quality reference work.
