Task instructions

· This is an individual assessment.

· The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students’ knowledge essential to work and communicate effectively in an ICT environment in a range of contexts and industry settings.

In this assessment task, you are required to perform the following:

1. Identify the uses and audience of the website

2. Analyse the specifications and requirements and determine the appropriate markup language

3. Determine and create the document structure of the website using an automated code generation program taking into account accessibility and mark-up the sections of the document required to describe the structure

4. Identify and evaluate the web page components

5. Validate the mark-up language document, against the specifications provided

6. Validate cross-browser accessibility and compatibility

Scenario

Sim Xero Pty. Ltd. has hired you as a web developer cum designer. They want to create simple websites for their clients using a mark-up language. Their preference is using a markup language that is easy to use and defines the structure and layout of a web document using a variety of tags and attributes without much technical programming. A style guide from the organisation is attached to this scenario for your reference purpose.

Your job duties as a web designer cover all aspects of creating a simple website. Upon meeting with clients and assessing their needs, web designers help create and maintain the product. Their duties include, but aren't limited to, the following:
