Course Description: This course will introduce students to contemporary information systems (IS) and demonstrate how these systems are used in global organizations. Students will gain an understanding of the key components of information systems (people, software, hardware, data, and procedures) and how these can be integrated and managed to create a competitive advantage. Students will also learn how information is used in organizations and how information technology (IT) enables improvement in quality, speed, and agility.
Pre-requisite/program: CPS 1032, ACC 2200, MGS 2030, MATH 1044

Course Student Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:
Recognize how and why information systems are used today. (CSLO 1)
Identify the technology, people, and organizational components of information systems. (CSLO 2) Examine the ethical concerns that information systems raise in society and the impact of information systems on crime, terrorism, and the environment. (CSLO 3)

Instructional Methods
Students who are enrolled in an online course will experience no in-person meeting requirements as all course content, reading/resources, class discussions, assessments, assignments, feedback and communications occur entirely online through a Learning Management System. At Kean University we are utilizing Blackboard Learn, which we refer to as “Virtual Classroom.”
This online course is taught using a variety of technological instruction that is developed for an eight- unit schedule and will use a standard of 1000 total points. Students will find common graded and non- graded learning activities present throughout the course. Each unit will include:
