Part 1:  The elevator pitch (85%)

Your manager, Bill Chau, is the head of the Merger Arbitrage team.  He is familiar with many basic event-driven investment strategies but has yet to be aware of the BPC and NCC deal.

Create a presentation of up to four minutes.  You will convince your manager that your trading strategy and the trading model are the best on Bay Street.  You shall explain clearly about the  deal and why he should allocate resources to implement your proposed strategy.

In your pitch, you shall include the following:

Explain your idea/logic/strategy.

How much cash do you need to implement the proposed trading strategy? What are the expected return and expected loss?

How do you manage risk?

Conclusions from your simulated trades.

Hints:

-            Communication is a vital skill.  Being able to communicate effectively is critical to the success of the pitch.  Consider using visuals like charts, flow diagrams, etc.

-            There are no right or wrong answers to this assignment.  But I will award higher grades to those who can offer a more critical analysis of the case, more creativity in their strategies or better decision-making with their strategy implementations.
